About Us

What is Renovatio Records?

Renovatio Records is a non-commercial independent project dedicated to the curation and presentation of film music albums.

The project was created from a simple idea: film scores can often offer a richer listening experience when presented as albums designed around musical flow, narrative coherence, and the original dramatic intent of the composition. While official releases frequently serve different purposes, Renovatio explores alternative presentations that seek to highlight the score as a complete listening experience.

Each release is carefully assembled using available score material and presented through customized sequencing, album design, and editorial notes. Depending on the project, this may involve restoring chronological structure, refining pacing, reducing redundancies, or creating more focused programs intended for album listening.

Rather than replacing official editions, Renovatio Records exists as a complementary appreciation project dedicated to celebrating the work of composers and the creative teams behind these scores.

All albums in the catalog are distributed free of charge through this site and are not intended for commercial use.

About the Sources

The albums presented on Renovatio Records are assembled using officially released soundtrack material, including expanded, complete, or previously published editions of the original scores whenever available.

Cover artwork, photography, logos, and supplementary visual materials used throughout the site originate from publicly available sources and remain the property of their respective copyright holders.

Renovatio Records does not claim ownership over any music, imagery, trademarks, or associated intellectual property presented on this site.

This project exists solely as a non-commercial initiative intended to promote appreciation for film music, celebrate the work of composers and filmmakers, and encourage interest in official soundtrack releases whenever available.

The Renovatio Team

Each Renovatio Records release is approached as a complete album production and developed through a set of recurring creative identities that represent the different stages of the process. From musical assembly and editorial decisions to audio preparation and visual presentation, each role reflects a distinct part of shaping the final listening experience.

John M. Angier
Executive Producer · Album Curation
Responsible for project direction, score research, sequencing, and final album assembly.

April Faust
Music Restoration & Album Preparation
Responsible for preparing and adapting soundtrack material for album presentation, including editorial adjustments and listening flow.

Mira B. Ellis

Together, these disciplines form the creative framework behind Renovatio Records and reflect the different perspectives involved in presenting film music as an album experience.

Our Story

Renovatio Records was founded in July 2014 as an independent, non-commercial project dedicated to the curation and re-presentation of film music albums. From the beginning, the focus was not on creating new recordings, but on rethinking how existing film scores could be experienced as cohesive listening works.

The first years of the project reflected an exploratory phase. Between 2014 and 2015, a number of releases established the core idea of assembling scores into more structured and intentional album presentations. After this initial period, activity became more sporadic, with long intervals between releases. From 2016 through 2022, Renovatio continued at a reduced pace, occasionally returning to specific scores that invited a different kind of listening approach.

In 2023, the project entered a renewed phase of activity. Output increased significantly, with a more consistent publishing rhythm and a clearer curatorial focus. This period reflects a consolidation of the project’s methodology: emphasizing sequencing, narrative flow, and listening coherence as central principles in each release.

Since then, Renovatio Records has maintained a steady pace of publication, continuing to expand its catalogue while refining its approach to film score presentation. Each release remains grounded in the same guiding idea established in 2014: that film music can reveal different dimensions when reassembled with attention to structure and listening experience.
